Kim Jong-un compares current world to post-WWII chaos, criticises US for pushing conflict
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has expressed grave concerns about the current state of global affairs, drawing comparisons with the turbulent period following the Second World War.
Kim highlighted the chaotic and violent nature of the world today, calling it the "most disorderly and violent" global environment since the end of the war, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
He condemned the United States for its relentless pursuit of global hegemony, accusing the country of using "ruthless tactics" to create division and conflict. Kim claimed that these actions have pushed the world past a "critical breaking point," leading to "unjust and horrific wars" and "catastrophic disasters."
Drawing parallels with the rise of fascism nearly a century ago, Kim warned that the West and East, under American imperialism, are attempting to impose a tyrannical and greed-driven order on the world. His comments were made at the opening of a military exhibition in Pyongyang, where North Korea showcased a range of "strategic and tactical weaponry that has attracted global attention."
Kim Jong Un's speech highlights his ongoing criticism of US foreign policy and its effects on global stability, emphasising North Korea's determination to assert its presence on the world stage through military progress.
Kim has declared that negotiations with the United States have proven Washington's "unchangeable" hostility towards Pyongyang revealing that the US's stance was one of "strength" and an "unchangeable" hostile policy towards North Korea.
This statement comes amid speculation that the outcome of the US presidential election, with Donald Trump's victory, could shift Washington's approach to North Korea. Although Trump previously praised his relationship with Kim, direct negotiations ultimately failed. Under Kim's leadership, North Korea has advanced its missile and nuclear capabilities while strengthening ties with Russia. Kim's support for Russian forces in Ukraine raises concerns about further military cooperation between Pyongyang and Moscow.
Thus, opening a weapons exhibition in Pyongyang, Kim stated, "It is impossible to call a country truly sovereign that has renounced self-defence in today’s world, which is fraught with military confrontations. A weak country will face aggression and its consequences, and will inevitably come under the heel of foreign tyranny."
According to him only military power strong enough to defeat adversaries could guarantee stability and development, deeming it the sole path to ensuring world peace. He also declared that the Workers' Party of Korea and the government would not tolerate violations of North Korea's security and would ensure that the military balance remains unaltered.
