Kremlin sees West’s growing involvement in conflict in Ukraine
Press Secretary of Russian president Dmitry Peskov has said that Moscow does not agree with the statements of Western politicians that the weapons which are supplied to Ukraine are not directed against Russia.
Peskov made these remarks during a briefing on January 26, Gazeta.Ru reports.
He said European countries and the US are constantly making statements that the supply of various weapons systems, including tanks, to Ukraine does not mean the involvement of these countries or NATO in the hostilities on Ukrainian territory.
“We disagree with this point of view. Moscow perceives everything that the alliance and Washington are doing as direct involvement in the conflict,” he added.
US President Joe Biden announced on January 25 that Washington would transfer 31 main battle tanks of the US army, the M1 Abrams, to Ukraine.
