Latvian president's visit programme to Azerbaijan unveiled
Latvian President Egils Levits will pay an official visit to Azerbaijan on March 8-9.
As part of his trip, Levits will meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and take part in the opening of the 10th Baku Global Forum, Report informs, citing the Latvian president’s press service.
"Latvia and Azerbaijan have had strong bilateral relations for nearly 30 years. The visit, which will take place at the invitation of Azerbaijan’s president and the organisers of the Baku Global Forum, will offer an opportunity for the two countries to discuss current challenges in regional security, as well as opportunities for cooperation in the energy sector, including the shared progress in renewable energy sources," Levits’ press service stated.
During the visit, the Latvian president will also visit the Baku-based ADA University, hold meetings with businessmen, visit exhibitions of Latvian textile artists Ieva Krumina and Iranian-French photojournalist Reza Deghati, and attend the unveiling of a memorial plaque dedicated to Latvian musical composer Jazep Mediņš.
