Latvian president’s visit to Azerbaijan set to boost economic ties, says envoy
Latvia’s ambassador to Azerbaijan, Edgars Skuja, stated that Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs’ visit to Azerbaijan next week will give new momentum to economic relations, according to local media.
Speaking at the 9th meeting of the Azerbaijan–Latvia Intergovernmental Commission, Skuja said: “This visit will provide new impetus to bilateral relations and economic ties. I would also like to highlight cooperation between the municipalities of the two countries. A delegation of Latvian municipalities will participate in the World Urban Forum to be held in Baku in May this year.”
The ambassador added that Latvia is interested in participating in regional transport projects.
“Latvia is interested in contributing to the development of the Middle Corridor in the fields of logistics, multimodal transport, and digital solutions. We strongly support the development of regional connectivity projects that strengthen links between Europe and Asia and contribute to peace in the region,” he said.
