Leyla Aliyeva and Arzu Aliyeva meet with Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser in Dhaka PHOTO

Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of the IDEA Public Union, Leyla Aliyeva, and head of the Baku Media Center, Arzu Aliyeva, visited Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.

As part of the visit, Leyla Aliyeva and Arzu Aliyeva met on December 7 with the Chief Adviser of Bangladesh’s interim government, world-renowned economist, Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Professor Muhammad Yunus, per Azertac.

During the meeting, the warmest greetings of President Ilham Aliyev were conveyed to Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus. It was emphasised that over the years he has visited Azerbaijan numerous times, including participating in the COP29 conference in November 2024, held several meetings with the President of Azerbaijan, and has always been warmly received in our country.

It was noted that Azerbaijan has always maintained friendly relations with Bangladesh, with which the country successfully cooperates in various formats.

Muhammad Yunus was informed that Leyla Aliyeva and Arzu Aliyeva visited an institution in Dhaka for children deprived of parental care and orphans.

It was highlighted that the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and IDEA Public Union are interested in cooperation with relevant Bangladeshi institutions in the humanitarian, social, and youth spheres, as well as in volunteer activities, environmental protection, and the implementation of joint projects.

Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus stressed that he fondly recalls his meetings with the President of Azerbaijan during his numerous visits to the country and asked that his greetings be conveyed to the head of state. He noted that, as mentioned during his meeting with President Ilham Aliyev at COP29, there is significant potential for fruitful cooperation between the two countries and underlined the importance of translating this potential into practical action.

Muhammad Yunus added that he personally witnessed Azerbaijan’s major achievements in various fields and expressed deep appreciation for the efforts aimed at developing cooperation with Bangladesh and implementing practical support programmes.
