Lithuania's new foreign minister condoles with Azerbaijan over AZAL plane crash
Lithuania's newly appointed Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys made a phone called Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov on December 31.
Budrys expressed condolences regarding the tragic crash of Azerbaijan Airlines's passenger plane, which was en route from Baku to Grozny, near the city of Aktau, and wished a swift recovery to the injured, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry's press service.
The new minister also expressed regret that the first phone call was related to such a sad event and emphasized that the Lithuanian side is always ready to provide any support in the rehabilitation of the victims and the investigation of the causes of the tragedy.
For his part, Bayramov thanked for the condolences and expressed solidarity, informing that measures are being taken and noting that the investigation into the causes of the crash is under the direct control of the country's leadership.
During the phone call, the ministers also discussed regional and international security issues, as well as bilateral and multilateral cooperation. The importance of intensifying cooperation in connection with the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations next year was emphasized.
