Mayor of Washington passes resolution on Azerbaijani women

Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser has declared March 27-31 "Azerbaijan Rural Women's Empowerment Week".

According to the resolution, Washington is one of the ten best places for the Azerbaijani community, including more than 50 million diaspora members in the world, Report informs.

The document states that the empowerment of rural women is an important factor in the fight against gender inequality, rural poverty, and the global growth gap between rural and urban areas.

Bowser also stressed that Washington will host an exhibition of handmade carpets by rural Azerbaijani women on March 27, organised by the American Chamber of Commerce in Azerbaijan and Azerkhalcha company.
