Media: Pashinyan outraged by negligent ratification of Rome Statute
On October 3, the Armenian National Assembly, more precisely, members of the ruling Civil Contract party ratified the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court and adopted a statement on retroactive recognition of the ICC jurisdiction, Caliber.Az reports citing Armenian media.
"Sixty deputies voted 'in favour' and 23 voted 'against'. The deputies of two opposition factions either voted against or simply did not take part in the voting, i.e. the Rome Statute was ratified by the votes of the deputies of the Civil Contract faction. But even here not everything went smoothly.
The thing is that not all the deputies of the Civil Contract were present at the National Assembly that day. Thus, Khachatur Sukiasyan, Gurgen Arsenyan, Karen Hambardzumyan, Matevos Asatryan, Vahe Galumyan, Kristine Poghosyan, Prince Hasanov were absent, and Sergey Bagratyan, Narek Grigoryan, Shirak Torosyan did not take part in the voting.
Although some MPs tried to explain their absence or non-participation in the voting, according to our information, Nikol Pashinyan was angry that the Rome Statute was ratified not by "impressive votes" but in a negligent manner (to remind, the Civil Contract has 71 mandates).
As a source in the government noted, Pashinyan had a very unpleasant conversation with each of them," the media reported.
