MFA: Azerbaijani Embassy in Russia keeps fitness trainer's detention under control

The issue of fitness trainer Kamil Zeynalli's detention at Moscow's Domodedovo airport is controlled by Azerbaijan's Embassy in Russia, Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry told APA.

The Foreign Ministry said that adequate consular and legal services are being provided to Kamil Zeynalli.

On early February 21 media and social networks reported Azerbaijan's famous fitness trainer Kamil Zeynalli detained in Moscow.

According to Caliber.Az, Zeynalli posted a video on his Instagram account saying that he was arrested by Russian police officers at Moscow Domodedovo airport and taken to the police station, where they announced that he was arrested at the request of Armenia, which declared him wanted internationally.

A Moscow court is expected to rule on Zeynalli's case today, including whether to extradite him to Armenia or opt for a pre-trial detention.

According to the fitness trainer, he has been told that Armenia has been looking for him through Interpol since May last year. "This is the third time I have been to Russia since May last year, but I have only now been in detention. I hope for the support of our state structures. At the moment I am in the police station. I hope that everything will be sorted out. My plea is for the help of the Azerbaijani state," Zeynalli said.
