Five resolutions put forward by Azerbaijan were adopted following the session, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az.

During the session, the Republic of Azerbaijan was represented by a delegation headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Rzayev.

While speaking at the session, Rzayev expressed condolences in connection with the powerful earthquakes that caused numerous human casualties in Türkiye and Syria.

Noting the floods in Pakistan and Chad, the deputy minister said that Azerbaijan is ready to support the OIC’s efforts to eliminate these crises.

Rzayev provided detailed information on the process of normalisation in the period after the end of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, as well as the provocative steps preventing this process, mines which are planted by Armenia.

The deputy minister informed the meeting participants about the initiatives of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as the Chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement, regarding the issues of recovery after COVID-19.

Five resolutions, put forward at the initiative of Azerbaijan, were adopted as a result of the meeting.

Armenia’s policy of occupation and aggression against Azerbaijan for almost 30 years is condemned, the support to the Azerbaijani government and people in eliminating the grave consequences of the occupation, as well as in restoration and creative work is expressed in the documents "Liquidation of the consequences of the aggression of the Republic of Armenia against the Republic of Azerbaijan", "Support for economic and social development in the liberated territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan" and "Destruction and desecration of historical and cultural monuments, traces of the Islamic religion in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan as a result of the aggression of the Republic of Armenia against the Republic of Azerbaijan”.

The massacre committed against the Azerbaijani civilians in Khojaly on February 26, 1992, is condemned in the resolution “Solidarity with the victims of the Khojaly massacre of 1992”.

In the document, the international community is urged to recognise this massacre as genocide, a crime against humanity, and a war crime. Support for the “Justice for Khojaly” public campaign was expressed in the document.

The member states of the organisation condemn the armed attack on the embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Tehran on January 27, 2023, in the resolution entitled “Attack on the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Tehran”.

The Iranian government is urged to thoroughly investigate the attack to bring those responsible to justice, and in accordance with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961, to protect the diplomatic missions of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The resolution also welcomes statements by the OIC Secretariat and member states of the organisation condemning the attack on the embassy.
