Military expert: Neither Pashinyan nor his minister controls situation in Armenian army
Military expert Hayk Nahapetyanhas said that Neither Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan nor the defence minister controls the situation in the Armenian army.
“The number of deaths in the army in peaceful conditions is a serious indicator that speaks about the order and morale of the Armed Forces of Armenia. And the death of two officers is a non-combat loss, and in the same army corps, this in itself indicates that they are not in control of the situation. As far as I know, the commander of this military unit was recently appointed to this position, and if they try to blame what happened on him, it will mean that others will try to evade responsibility,” Nahapetyan said in an interview with Armenian media, Caliber.Az reports.
"Everything that happens in the Armenian army is a systemic phenomenon. It is not the problem of one military unit, one commander or one unit. The main responsible persons are not in their place, no matter how much they shout "hurrah". Any profession should be respected, especially the profession of the heads of the security forces in a country at war.
Decisions are mostly made by the Minister of Defense; he is officially in charge of everything. Now, if we look at Suren Papikyan's military career we won't have to look much. If a person has no knowledge, if he is given several proposals on a case, how can he make the most effective decision if he has no knowledge, no experience, no proven results?
After the deaths of two officers in Vardenis, Andranik Kocharyan, Chairman of the Parliament's Committee on National Defense and Security Affairs, stated that he sees no need for the resignation of Defense Minister Suren Papikyan. However, neither Andranik Kocharyan, nor Suren Papikyan, nor even Nikol Pashinyan are in control of the situation, except perhaps one or two visible front men, one of whom is Armen Grigoryan, the acting secretary of the Security Council.
Their task is to completely change our army: tactics, strategy, personnel base, armament and all other standards should be brought to the standards of the NATO army. That is why this old order must be torn down. Those who received higher education in Russia are gradually excluded from the armed forces," Nahapetyan said.
