Armenian FM to explore key bilateral issues with Russian counterpart in Moscow
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan will embark on a working visit to Moscow on January 21, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
As part of the visit, Mirzoyan is scheduled to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
Following their discussions, the two ministers will hold a joint press conference to provide further details about the outcomes of their meeting.
The visit comes after a series of diplomatic engagements between Armenia and Russia. On January 17, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. During their discussion, the two leaders addressed Armenia's growing ties with the European Union.
Prime Minister Pashinyan, in a statement on January 15, emphasized that Armenia's relationship with Russia is focused on pragmatic, concrete issues without unnecessary emotional rhetoric. At the same time, he acknowledged that Armenia's relations with the European Union have strengthened, describing the bloc as a key partner in the country’s foreign policy. Furthermore, Pashinyan reiterated that the United States remains a strategic partner for Armenia.
The evolving diplomatic landscape also includes reports that Armenia and the United States are preparing to sign a strategic partnership document, highlighting a shift towards closer ties between the two nations.
