The upgraded drone is expected to offer increased precision and effectiveness in its operations, further solidifying its role as a key asset in Türkiye's defence capabilities. This development marks a significant step forward in the evolution of the Bayraktar TB2, which has already gained considerable international recognition for its performance in various military operations.
The Bayraktar TB2 is a medium-altitude long-endurance (MALE) unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) designed for both remote-controlled and autonomous flight operations. Manufactured by the Turkish company Baykar Makina Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş., the UAV is primarily intended for use by the Turkish Armed Forces.
The aircraft is controlled and monitored by an aircrew stationed at a ground control facility, which also oversees weapon deployment. The development of the Bayraktar TB2 is largely attributed to Selçuk Bayraktar, a former graduate student from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), whose innovative contributions played a pivotal role in its creation.
