Minister: French Embassy in Armenia to set up military mission
French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna has said that the creation of a military mission at the French Embassy in Armenia should provide an opportunity to deepen the bilateral cooperation in this key area.
According to Caliber.Az, she made the remarks in an interview with the Armenian media.
“France strongly supports the efforts of the Nikol Pashinyan government to strengthen democracy and the rule of law in Armenia and develop the country's economy. Armenia's bold choice of a democratic model must be supported, to which we are committed together with other members of the international community and the European Union.
We also signed an ambitious economic cooperation roadmap in December 2021, and recently organized the "Aspirations: France-Armenia" forum in Paris and opened the office of the French Development Agency in Yerevan. FDA is engaged in an effective dialogue with Armenian authorities to implement new projects, particularly in the fields of water and sustainable energy. Bilateral trade has increased significantly in the past year.
Our bilateral trade increased significantly last year, and we are working to ensure that this trend continues, including by supporting French companies willing to invest in Armenia, such as Veolia, Pernod Ricard, Carrefour and Amundi-Acba.
As for defense, the establishment of a military mission at the French Embassy in Armenia should enable us to deepen our bilateral cooperation in this key area," Colonna said.
