Minister: Türkiye to keep supporting brotherly Azerbaijan

31 December 2024 13:14

Türkiye's Minister of National Defence, Yaşar Güler, has said that Türkiye will continue to support its brothers in the name of Azerbaijan's stable development.

In his New Year address, he emphasized that the policies of Ankara and Baku are based on the principle of "One nation, two states," Caliber.Az reports via local media.

"We see no difference between the security and peace of Türkiye and Azerbaijan. We have been and will always stand by our brothers in Azerbaijan!" the defence minister assured.

Güler highlighted the historical bonds of friendship and brotherhood between the two nations.

The Turkish defence minister also expressed condolences regarding the crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) aircraft.

"We deeply mourn the significant loss of life caused by the crash of an AZAL plane on December 25 during its Baku-Grozny flight. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims, as well as to the friendly and brotherly people of Azerbaijan. We hope for the swift recovery of the injured," the Turkish minister stated.

To recall, the AZAL passenger plane Embraer E190, operating the Baku-Grozny route, crashed on December 25, 2024, near Aktau. The crash resulted in the deaths of 38 passengers, including five crew members, out of the 67 people on board, with 29 survivors. Preliminary reports suggest that external physical and technical factors may have contributed to the crash, though the investigation is ongoing.
