Moscow blames Switzerland for restricting ties with Russia
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has said that the Swiss side is responsible for the current state of relations between Moscow and Bern.
She made the remarks in her Telegram channel reacting to the words of Swiss Foreign Ministry spokesman Pierre-Alain Elchinger about the severe restriction of contacts with Russia due to the conflict in Ukraine, Caliber.Az reports.
“Elchinger: “Due to the aggressive war against Ukraine, the bilateral dialogue between Switzerland and Russia was greatly limited, but not completely interrupted. In September 2022, Foreign Ministers Ignazio Cassis and Sergei Lavrov held a conversation on the sidelines of a high-level week in New York.” An attempt to sell a contact from a year ago for a relatively regular one did not work out - the relationship collapsed due to Bern’s fault,” Zakharova wrote.
She added that the representative of the Swiss Foreign Ministry should come up with more plausible stories about Russian-Swiss contacts.
