Moscow eyes deeper ties with Baku in public procurement oversight
Russia’s Accounts Chamber has signalled its interest in deepening cooperation with Azerbaijan, particularly in public procurement auditing, digitalisation and the management of corruption risks.
Speaking at a meeting of the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) Working Group on Public Procurement Audit in Baku, auditor Svetlana Orlova said both countries had implemented significant projects in the sector in recent years, making bilateral experience-sharing practically valuable.
Orlova, who also heads the Secretariat of the working group, noted that Azerbaijan’s Chamber of Accounts has become increasingly active in the international audit agenda, with its ongoing reforms drawing attention from foreign partners.
“Over the past years, we have established cooperation with 29 countries in the field of anti-corruption and public procurement audit. Azerbaijan is also an active participant in this international cooperation, and we expect further expansion of the exchange of experience,” she said.
