Mozambique speaker joins 20th OIC session in Azerbaijan
Speaker of the Assembly of Mozambique, Margarida Adamugy Talapa, has paid a visit to Azerbaijan to take part in the 20th session of the Parliamentary Union of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states in Baku.
The conference is bringing together lawmakers and officials from across the Islamic world to discuss economic cooperation and development, Caliber.Az report, citing local media.
The gathering has drawn parliamentary delegations from more than 40 countries, speakers from over 10 nations, and representatives of 10 international organisations.
In total, more than 400 delegates are participating in the multi-day event.
This year’s central theme is Promoting Sustainable and Inclusive Economic Development in OIC Member States through Parliamentary Cooperation.
The session includes meetings of several governing and specialised bodies, including the General Committee, Executive Committee, and the OIC Association of Secretaries-General.
Delegates are also taking part in discussions across committees focused on political affairs, international relations, economic development, environment, legal and cultural affairs, inter-civilisational and inter-religious dialogue, human rights, and women’s and family issues.
Participants are expected to address a range of issues during the event, including the Palestinian question, international security concerns, as well as political, economic, and parliamentary cooperation among Islamic countries.
