NAM Youth Network Office inaugurated in Baku PHOTO

Within the framework of the ministerial meeting of the Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) held in Baku on July 5-6, the opening ceremony of the office of the Youth organisation of the Non-Aligned Movement (YONAM) took place.

According to Azertag, in accordance with the Statutes of the Youth Organisation of the Non-Aligned Movement, adopted on the basis of the Shusha Agreement during the NAM Youth Summit in 2022, the office of the Youth organisation of the Non-Aligned Movement is located in Baku.

After cutting the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the office, guests viewed the conditions created there, as well as with the NAM Youth Research Centre established at the office. The centre was established with the aim of researching the problems of the youth of the NAM member states and finding ways of solving them.

According to Ordukhan Gahramanzadeh, chairman of the Youth organisation of NAM, establishing of NAM office creates wide opportunities for representing the youth of NAM in international forums and developing their personal and professional skills in close cooperation with relevant bodies. The Chairman's speech was followed by the presentation of video clips on the activities of the YONAM in 2021-2023, as well as the newly launched YONAM website.

Speaking at the ceremony, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, stressing the importance of successful activities of the Youth Movement to find answers to contemporary challenges, wished success to the staff working at the headquarters.

In his speech Youth and Sports Minister Farid Gayibov said the ministry will continue to fully support the Youth Movement's activity.

At the end of the event, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Venezuela, and Uganda and the Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gaibov left a note in the Commemorative Book of the Youth Movement. The guests were presented gifts on behalf of the organisation.

It should be noted that the Youth Network of Non-Aligned Movement established upon the initiative of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on July 29, 2022, became the Youth organisation of Non-Aligned Movement after the adoption of the Shusha Agreement. The Youth Network of the Non-Aligned Movement, the creation of which was one of the important steps taken for the institutional development of the Movement during Azerbaijan's chairmanship, currently performs a wide range of activities and acts as a platform encouraging youth development in the NAM member states.
