NATO appoints former envoy as special representative for South Caucasus, Central Asia

NATO has appointed Kevin Hamilton as its Special Representative for the South Caucasus and Central Asia, the Alliance announced.
Hamilton will be tasked with advancing NATO policy in “these two strategically important regions” and has also been named Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Partnerships, in the Political Affairs and Security Policy Division, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Before assuming this new role, Hamilton served as Canada’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan from 2023 to 2026, based in Ankara, Türkiye. He previously held ambassadorial posts in Romania, Bulgaria, and the Republic of Moldova between 2016 and 2020, bringing extensive diplomatic experience to his NATO assignment.
