Negotiations with Armenia yield positive results Azerbaijani Parliament speaker says
Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has said that negotiations with Armenia yielded positive results.
Gafarova pointed out that peace talks with Armenia were launched after the victory in the Patriotic War on the initiative of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev as she addressed a plenary session of the parliament, Report informs.
“Today we can already say that these negotiations are yielding positive results. The day before, a joint statement by the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan and the Office of the Prime Minister of Armenia was published. Both sides agree that there is a historic opportunity to achieve long-awaited peace in the region. The sides reaffirmed their intention to normalise relations and conclude a peace treaty based on mutual respect for the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity. The statement envisages a series of steps to bring the peace agreement closer. We will see the continuation of these steps soon," Gafarova added.
