The embassy of the Netherlands in Tehran will temporarily operate from Azerbaijan due to the current security situation in Iran.
Emiel de Bont, head of the Dutch diplomatic mission in Iran, announced the decision after crossing the Azerbaijani-Iranian border via the Astara border checkpoint, as per local media reports.
Speaking to journalists, the diplomat said the embassy had decided to suspend its activities in Tehran and temporarily relocate operations to Azerbaijan for security reasons.
“Unfortunately, due to the security situation, we decided to temporarily suspend our activities in Tehran, relocating our embassy here for security reasons. We hope to return to Tehran soon when the situation becomes calmer,” de Bont said.
