Netherlands plans to refuse gas, oil, coal supplies from Russia
The government of the Netherlands considers stopping gas, oil and coal supplies from Russia by the end of 2022.
According to the country’s Minister for Climate and Energy Policy, Rob Jetten, for achieving this goal, Amsterdam “intends to focus on energy saving, sustainable energy and energy imports from other countries,” TASS reports.
In 2021, the value of Dutch goods imports from Russia stood at 18.4 billion euros, of which 87 percent represented mineral fuels, including half crude oil, natural gas, and petroleum products. The Netherlands is the sixth-largest importer of goods from Russia worldwide, according to Statistics Netherlands (CBS).
Since 2004, mineral fuels have consistently made up over 80 percent of the total value of the country’s imports from Russia. In addition to mineral fuels, the Netherlands obtains relatively large quantities of metals such as copper and nickel from Russia.
