New Caledonian Support Front thanks Azerbaijan

The New Caledonian Support Front for Political Prisoners has issued a statement expressing gratitude towards various international supporters, including Azerbaijan’s Baku Initiative Group (BIG).

“We express our gratitude to the Solidarita Association and the EH Bai Movement for their crucial support of our activities, as well as the Baku Initiative Group for their assistance to the families of political prisoners,” Caliber.Az reports via local media.

Moreover, the collective of Political Prisoners highly valued the important work carried out by the Kanak Solidarity group and the Kanak Movement of France in efforts to raise awareness and organise information spaces.

“In continuation of the various solidarity actions supporting imprisoned activists in the French colony, and in response to a series of interrogations that began at the Lyon court on September 20, 2024, the Front for the Support of Political Prisoners in New Caledonia extends its appreciation to brothers and sisters demonstrating solidarity in various cities across France, Catalonia, the Pacific region, and the Antilles,” the statement reads.

The Baku Initiative Group, which was established on July 6, 2023, during the ministerial meeting of the Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement chaired by Azerbaijan, has played a crucial role in supporting independence movements. BIG has already organised up to 15 international conferences, including sessions at the UN headquarters in New York, Geneva, and Vienna, as well as in Istanbul and Baku, aiming to highlight colonialism as a persistent global issue in the 21st century.
