New defence agreement sets stage for stronger Azerbaijan-Pakistan ties VIDEO
Azerbaijan and Pakistan have agreed to further strengthen and diversify their bilateral defence relations.
The agreement was reached during a meeting in Islamabad between Pakistan Navy Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf and Azerbaijan Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahin Mammadov, Caliber.Az reports via Pakistani media.
The officials discussed issues of mutual interest, regional maritime security, and ways to enhance cooperation in training and defence. Mammadov also received a briefing on the Pakistan Navy’s current projects.
During the visit, the Azerbaijan Navy commander also laid a wreath at the Shuhada (Martyrs) Memorial.
Baku and Islamabad share longstanding fraternal ties, marked by close cooperation in the naval sphere. According to ISPR (Inter-Services Public Relations), the visit of the Azerbaijan Navy commander is expected to further strengthen bilateral cooperation overall, and particularly between the two countries’ naval forces.
