New US deputy chief of mission addresses Azerbaijanis from Ateshgah temple VIDEO
US Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) Amy Carlon delivered her first public address in Azerbaijan from the historic Ateshgah Temple, starting the speech in Azerbaijani.
The newly appointed DCM chose the Ateshgah Temple as her very first cultural stop in Azerbaijan — “a place that beautifully reflects the spirit of the Land of Fire,” the US Embassy in Baku wrote on their social media page,, sharing the video, Caliber.Az reports.
“Standing where history, faith, and tradition meet, she felt the warmth of Azerbaijan’s rich cultural heritage and the friendship between our two nations. Welcome, DCM Carlon!” the statement reads.
“I am so honored to be here at a truly historic moment for the United States and Azerbaijan,” Carlon said, referring to the August 8 peace deal initialed at the White House between Azerbaijan and Armenia. “The U.S. is committed to helping Azerbaijan and Armenia to build a lasting peace. By locking in this path to peace we are unlocking the great potential of the South Caucasus region as a trade, transit, and energy hub.”
Carlon arrived in Baku in June.
