New York City mayor recognises November 8 as Azerbaijan's Victory Day PHOTO
The New York City Mayor’s Office has officially recognized the date of November 8 as Azerbaijan's Victory Day.
It forwarded a certificate of recognition to the Azerbaijani-American Youth Federation (AAYF) to record this decision, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
In the declaration, incumbent Mayor Eric Adams congratulated the people of Azerbaijan on their historic Victory Day and expressed his delight on the occasion.
The document, which was presented to AAYF President Leyla Aslanova, praises the AAYF as a respected youth organization that promotes cultural exchange, youth development, and civic engagement by uniting Azerbaijani youth through workshops, mentorship initiatives, and networking opportunities. The federation operates across New York City’s five boroughs and in several U.S. states, supporting young Azerbaijani-Americans.
In the recognition declaration, the office also highlights the AAYF’s collaboration with universities and community organizations to create an inclusive environment for learning and mutual exchange.
Adams commended the AAYF for its contribution to the development of the Azerbaijani community in New York and “for their efforts to build a brighter future for all.”
The Azerbaijani-American Youth Federation was founded in 2023 by Azerbaijani students receiving an education in the United States.
