Newly-appointed German ambassador arrives in Azerbaijan
Ralph Horlemann, who was recently appointed as the new German ambassador to Azerbaijan, has arrived in the capital Baku.
“I am very pleased to start my duties as an ambassador to Azerbaijan. I look forward to exploring this beautiful country and strengthening German-Azerbaijani ties in the coming years,” Horlemann wrote on the official Twitter page of the German Embassy in Azerbaijan, Report informs.
Ralf Horlemann was in charge of transatlantic relations and Asian affairs from 2002 to 2005 as Counsel to the German Embassy in Washington DC. He also served as Consul General of Germany in New England (the US) in 2015 and worked at the German Embassy in Buenos Aires (Argentina). His diplomatic credentials also include a consular post in Hong Kong and head of the German Interests Office in Pyongyang, North Korea.
Horlemann holds a doctorate degree in political science and international relations from the University of Munich.
The previous German ambassador to Azerbaijan was Wolfgang Manig from 2019 to 2022.
