Northern Cyprus president praises Azerbaijan’s role in regional peace
Ersin Tatar, President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), has affirmed his country’s keen interest in Azerbaijan’s efforts to foster peace in the region.
“We are pleased to witness the peace achieved between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has also strongly supported this peace process. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: we see ourselves as ‘one nation, three states.’ Türkiye, Azerbaijan, and the TRNC are deeply connected across the Caucasus, Anatolia, and the Eastern Mediterranean triangle. Our shared national values, spirituality, and history unite us as children of the same nation,” Tatar stated, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Expressing optimism, Tatar highlighted that the peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, alongside the developments following the Karabakh victory, will have a positive impact on Azerbaijan’s growth and development.
The TRNC leader also revealed plans to visit Azerbaijan next month, underscoring the close ties between the two countries. “The Azerbaijani government has provided great support for resolving issues in our region. I’ve visited Azerbaijan several times over the past two years, and each time President Ilham Aliyev has welcomed me warmly. On October 6–7, I will return to Azerbaijan to attend the summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) at President Aliyev’s invitation,” he added.
