Official: NGO cooperation under Turkic states key driver of regional integration
Joint projects by non-governmental organisations (NGOs) across the Organization of Turkic States are expected to play a significant role in strengthening integration across the Turkic world, Azer Allahveranov, Secretary General of the NGO Platform of OTS Member States said during the 2nd Solidarity Forum of NGOs from OTS member states.
Allahveranov highlighted recent and upcoming regional developments, noting that an informal summit of OTS heads of state was held on May 15 in Turkestan, Kazakhstan, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
He also pointed to the upcoming 13th session of the World Urban Forum, set to begin on May 17 in Baku, where NGOs from member states will take part.
He said that by November 2026, a series of initiatives are planned to expand the NGO Platform’s activities at both operational and institutional levels, including decisions on its legal status and long-term development strategy.
Founded on shared history, cultural ties, and principles of solidarity and mutual respect, the Platform is intended to deepen social, humanitarian, and inter-community cooperation among Turkic states, he added.
