Official: Urban population in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories to exceed 354,000

The urban population in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories — Karabakh and East Zangezur — is expected to exceed 354,000 people by 2040, Anar Guliyev, Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture, said at the WUF13 event in Baku.

He noted that master plans for eight cities in the liberated territories have already been approved, while master plans for four additional cities are in their final stage, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

“The total planned urban area of the liberated territories exceeds 10,000 hectares, and the projected population by 2040 will exceed 354,000 people. Planning is being carried out based on the principles of long-term and phased development,” Guliyev said.
