Official: Zangezur Corridor to transform Nakhchivan into major logistic hub
The opening of Zangezur Corridor, linking mainland Azerbaijan to Nakhchivan, could transform the enclave into a major logistics hub for the Turkic world, Deputy Chairman of Türkiye’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) Kurshad Zorlu said.
Speaking to journalists during his visit to Nakhchivan, the official stressed that the corridor would offer significant economic opportunities for all South Caucasus countries and strengthen regional peace, stability and security, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Zorlu recalled that the 2009 agreement between the two countries had been implemented in Nakhchivan, and said the opening of the Zangezur Corridor would mark the start of a new stage.
He argued that such a development would not only bolster Turkish-Azerbaijani ties but also transform the exclave into a critical hub for trade and connectivity across the Turkic world.
He underlined that Azerbaijani-Turkish relations were at their highest level, rooted in what he described as rare bonds of friendship, brotherhood and alliance.
In this context, he noted, Nakhchivan holds particular importance both within the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) and in bilateral relations between Baku and Ankara.
He added that Ankara and Baku would act together to promote peace, stability and development in the wider region.
