Officials pay tribute to National Leader Heydar Aliyev on his 103rd birth anniversary PHOTO / UPDATED

On May 10, on the occasion of the 103rd anniversary of the birth of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, Minister of Defence Colonel General Zakir Hasanov and the leadership of the Ministry of Defense visited the Alley of Honours.

The defence ministry leadership laid a wreath and flowers at the grave of the National Leader, paying deep respect to his memory, Caliber.Az reports per the state media.

They also visited the memorial of prominent ophthalmologist and scientist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva, where flowers were laid at her grave.

The 103rd anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev, the architect and founder of modern independent Azerbaijan and the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, is being widely marked across the country on May 10.

On the occasion, state and government officials visited the Alley of Honours to pay tribute at the grave of the national leader, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

Prime Minister Ali Asadov, Speaker of the Milli Majlis (parliament) Sahiba Gafarova, Head of the Presidential Administration Samir Nuriyev, Assistant to the President and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev, and others respectfully honored the memory of Heydar Aliyev and laid flowers at his grave.

The memory of the prominent ophthalmologist and academician Zarifa Aliyeva was also commemorated, with flowers laid at her grave as well.
