Oman to take part in Azerbaijan's global international events
Azerbaijani Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev has met with Oman’s delegation, led by Prosecutor General Nasr Hamis Al-Sawai of the Sultanate of Oman.
The meeting is taking place as part of the 29th Annual Conference and General Assembly of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) in Baku from September 29 to October 2, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
During the meeting, Kamran Aliyev emphasized the successful development of bilateral and multilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Oman, particularly through platforms such as the Non-Aligned Movement and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. He highlighted the strengthening of ties in various sectors including economy, energy, education, and tourism.
Aliyev noted the significance of mutual visits in fostering cooperation, adding that the relationship between the two countries' prosecutor offices continues to grow within the framework of the International Association of Prosecutors and other professional platforms.
He also touched on the historical importance of Azerbaijan hosting the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Baku. He stated that the event will mark a key milestone in the global fight against climate change.
Additionally, Aliyev invited his Omani counterpart to participate in a high-level plenary session on November 15, organized in collaboration with the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
In response, Oman's Prosecutor General expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and praised Azerbaijan’s ability to host major international events. He expressed confidence that Oman would actively participate in future global events in Azerbaijan.
The meeting featured an exchange of views on legal cooperation in both bilateral and international contexts. Both parties agreed to prepare a Memorandum of Understanding to further develop relations between their prosecution offices.
