Italian Ambassador to Baku Claudio Taffuri has said the opening of visa center simplified process of obtaining visas for Azerbaijani citizens.

Taffuri said that he instructed employees of the diplomatic mission to be as loyal as possible to Azerbaijani citizens applying for visas, Report informs.

"I told my staff that Azerbaijanis are our friends, we are a friendly nation, and instructed them to be as attentive and loyal to them as possible in the visa issue," he said.

The diplomat noted that after the opening of a visa centre of the Italian Embassy in November, the process of obtaining a visa became even easier.

“So far, the Italian Embassy has received a very large number of applications for Schengen visas. Due to their large number, it was physically impossible to respond to all of them. That is why a new visa center was opened in early November," the ambassador said.

According to him, since then the centre has received about a hundred applications daily. The diplomat noted that the embassy's website provides detailed information on how to contact the visa center.
