OSCE concerned about ill-treatment of Azerbaijani serviceman in Armenia
Video footage of apparent mistreatment of an Azerbaijani serviceman in Armenia is deeply disturbing.
“The OSCE/ODIHR called for an immediate investigation into the incident,” Report informs citing the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe's (OSCE) Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR).
"This will help bring the perpetrators to justice in accordance with international law," the report said.
Earlier, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry called on the international community to condemn the inhumane treatment of the Azerbaijani military detained by the Armenian side.
The Azerbaijan State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing People appealed to international organisations in connection with two missing servicemen of the Azerbaijani army.
The State Commission and other state organisations continue an investigation in connection with Azerbaijani servicemen 19-year-old Agshin Babirov and 20-year-old Huseyn Akhundov missing in Shahbuz district of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, bordering with Armenia, due to limited visibility as a result of adverse weather conditions.
Later it turned out that both Azerbaijani servicemen ended up in Armenia and were detained. The Armenian side confirmed that they were detained by the police officers.
