OSCE Parliamentary Assembly backs diplomatic momentum in South Caucasus
The President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Pere Joan Pons Sampietro, has expressed strong support for the ongoing diplomatic developments in the South Caucasus, describing them as a positive step toward regional stability and integration.
Speaking before the OSCE Permanent Council in Vienna, Sampietro welcomed the evolving dialogue between Armenia and Azerbaijan and praised their historic joint decision to formally close the OSCE Minsk Group, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
“I hope this will contribute to the improvement of the unified budget,” Sampietro said, referring to potential operational efficiencies within the OSCE framework following the group's closure.
Highlighting the strategic significance of the region, the OSCE PA President called on both parties to seize the opportunity for deeper regional cooperation:
“I would like to tell both sides that your region has the potential to become a strategic hub between East and West, North and South. Peace brings prosperity, and unity transforms regions.”
