OTS Central Bank Council sets next meeting for Türkiye in 2027 PHOTO

05 June 2026 17:51

The third meeting of the Council of Central (National) Banks of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) will be held in Türkiye in 2027.

The decision was adopted at the conclusion of the Council’s second meeting, held in Baku on June 4–5, which brought together senior financial officials from across the Turkic world and partner countries, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

Participants included OTS Secretary General Kubanychbek Omuraliev, a delegation from the National Bank of Kazakhstan, the governors of the central banks of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Türkiye, as well as the heads of the central banks of Hungary and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus as observers.

Addressing the meeting, CBA Chairman Taleh Kazimov emphasized that the Council is creating new opportunities for cooperation among member states and financial institutions.

“The Chairman stated that at a time when uncertainties in the global and regional economy are increasing, volatility in financial market indicators is rising, and the use of digital technologies is expanding, the Council serves as an important platform for addressing both common and country-specific challenges. He emphasized that the Council promotes closer economic and financial cooperation in the areas of monetary policy, financial stability and financial sector development,” the CBA said in a statement.

For his part, Omuraliev reviewed the Council’s activities over the past two years and highlighted its growing role in fostering cooperation among member states and across the broader region.

During their discussions, participants stressed the importance of further expanding the Council’s activities as a platform of both regional and international significance, while strengthening effective cooperation among central banks.

The official session concluded with the signing of a communiqué outlining the agreements reached and identifying key areas for future cooperation.
