Outgoing UN Resident Coordinator Garafulic expresses gratitude to Azerbaijan

Acting United Nations Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, Igor Garafulic, has expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan upon the completion of his mission in the country, according to the UN representation in Azerbaijan in a post on X.

“Igor Garafulic extends his sincere gratitude to the Government of Azerbaijan, partners, colleagues across the UN Country Team, and all those who welcomed and supported him throughout his time in the country,” the statement said.

In January 2026, Garafulic was appointed Acting UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan following the completion of the mission of Vladanka Andreeva.

Dmytro Shlapachenko has been appointed as the new UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan and will assume his duties on July 1.
