Over 3,100 evacuated from Iran to Azerbaijan in one month
A total of 3,146 people have been evacuated from Iran to Azerbaijan between February 28 and March 31, as the country continues to serve as a key transit route amid escalating regional tensions.
Of those evacuated, 551 are citizens of Azerbaijan, while the majority are foreign nationals representing dozens of countries, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
The largest groups include 728 citizens of China, 354 from Russia, 198 from Bangladesh, 187 from Tajikistan, 148 from Pakistan, and 196 from India.
Other evacuees include 84 citizens of Oman, 68 from Indonesia, 61 from Iran, 55 from Algeria, 44 from Italy, 26 from Spain, 25 from Canada, 24 from Germany, and 19 each from France and Georgia.
Additionally, 18 citizens each from Saudi Arabia and Japan were evacuated, along with 16 each from Uzbekistan and Bahrain, 14 each from Poland and Switzerland, 13 each from Nigeria and Kazakhstan, 12 from Hungary, and 11 each from Mexico, the United States, and Belarus.
Ten citizens each from the United Kingdom, Bulgaria, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo were also among those evacuated, alongside 9 from Brazil and 8 from Sudan.
The list further includes 7 citizens from Venezuela; 6 each from Slovakia, Belgium, Romania, and the United Arab Emirates; and 5 each from Turkey, Serbia, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Afghanistan, Australia, Austria, Greece, Vietnam, Finland, and Kyrgyzstan.
Four citizens each from Jordan, the Philippines, Ukraine, Sri Lanka, Kuwait, and the Netherlands were also evacuated, along with 3 each from Qatar, Croatia, Denmark, and Norway.
Smaller groups included 2 citizens each from Nepal, Lebanon, Yemen, Myanmar, Cyprus, and Slovenia, as well as one citizen each from Tunisia, South Africa, the Maldives, Cuba, Vatican City, Argentina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Latvia, Egypt, Belize, and the Dominican Republic.
