Pakistan says gaps remain ahead of planned US–Iran talks in Islamabad
Pakistan has said preparations for the scheduled US–Iran talks in Islamabad have been completed, but officials acknowledge that significant differences remain between the two sides ahead of the meeting, Khabar Fouri reports.
According to sources cited by the BBC, negotiations between the United States and Iran are due to begin on the morning of April 11 in Islamabad.
However, officials cautioned that the positions of both sides remain far apart on key issues.
Security arrangements are already in place in the Pakistani capital, with US security personnel and other support staff reportedly present. However, neither the Iranian nor US delegations have yet arrived in Islamabad.
The talks between the United States and Iran are expected to address longstanding disputes, but officials indicated that progress may be limited given the current distance between negotiating positions.
