Pakistani envoy: No plans to cancel visa regime with Azerbaijan
Pakistan’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Qasim Mohiuddin, has said that there are no plans to abolish the visa regime between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
The diplomat noted that both Azerbaijan and Pakistan have introduced an electronic visa system, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
“As a result, visas for citizens of both countries are issued within a few hours. There are no problems with the visa issue. Therefore, the introduction of a visa-free system is not planned,” he said.
The ambassador also added that more than 80,000 tourists from Pakistan visited Azerbaijan last year.
Notably, as of August 14, 2024, Pakistan has waived visa fees for citizens of Azerbaijan and 125 other countries. Azerbaijani travellers can now obtain a free electronic visa (e-Visa) for tourism or business purposes, valid for a 90-day stay, with processing times within 24 hours. The application process has been streamlined, reducing the number of required questions to 30.
