Palestinian president proposes final status talks with Israel
President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas has said that his country is ready for negotiations with Israel on final status within the framework of the peace conference.
Abbas said Palestine had prepared a "road map" approved by a group of six Arab states and submitted for consideration to the US, the European Union and members of the UN Security Council, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
He noted that "ending the Israeli presence in the Gaza Strip" is at the heart of the solution.
The decision involves "entering into final status negotiations with the Israeli side within the framework of an international peace conference."
The Palestinian National Authority is ready to fulfil its functions in the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian leader said.
