Parliament speaker: Friendly and brotherly ties define Azerbaijan-Belarus relationship
Azerbaijan and Belarus maintain friendly and brotherly relations grounded in strategic partnership and close cooperation, according to Sahiba Gafarova, Chairperson of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan.
She made the remarks during a meeting with Natalia Kochanova, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of Belarus, Caliber.Az reports via Belarus media.
Speaking on the enduring bond between the two nations, Gafarova emphasized the key role played by the leaders of both countries in strengthening relations.
“A huge impetus for the development of relations between our countries and parliaments was the ties between Presidents Ilham Aliyev and Alexander Lukashenko. Their numerous visits – state, official, and working – confirm the process of strengthening friendship between our peoples. I would like to particularly note that Alexander Lukashenko's visit to Azerbaijan last May was another evidence of the strength and depth of our bilateral relations,” Gafarova remarked.
Gafarova also underscored that Belarus is considered a strategic partner of Azerbaijan, saying, “More than 170 documents have been signed between our countries. I am sure that this number will increase. The level of our relations goes beyond friendship – it is a full-fledged strategic cooperation.”
The meeting coincided with the official visit of a Belarusian parliamentary delegation, led by Kochanova, to Azerbaijan.
The delegation’s program includes participation in the Executive Council meeting of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), the 15th plenary session of the APA, as well as a series of bilateral discussions.
