PM: Armenia must not continue Karabakh movement
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said that the movement advocating for the "return of Karabakh to Armenia" should not continue, citing the establishment of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Speaking during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Pashinyan stated that he had made it clear publicly within Armenia that the Karabakh movement should not be pursued further, as the two countries had already reached a stage of peace, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
He also recalled that Armenia and Azerbaijan had formally recognised each other’s territorial integrity, political independence and sovereignty based on the Almaty Declaration of 1991. According to Pashinyan, both sides acknowledge that the "borders of independent Armenia and Azerbaijan correspond fully to those of their respective Soviet-era republics."
The Armenian leader added that this mutual recognition provides a strong foundation for advancing long-term peace and stability in the region.
