Pashinyan reports surge in visitors, calls tourism key export sector
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said the country has recorded a sharp rise in inbound passenger traffic, highlighting tourism as an increasingly important component of services exports.
Speaking as cited by Armenian media and reported by Caliber.Az, Pashinyan said daily arrivals have recently exceeded 10,000 passengers, reflecting both growing demand and improved international visibility for Armenia.
“These days, almost every day, more than 10,000 passengers enter Armenia. There is also a positive trend: as Armenia’s recognition has increased, people, while transiting through Armenia to third countries or on their way back, stop for 1–2 days, travel around the republic, and this also has a very significant impact,” he said.
Pashinyan added that the country registered an all-time high in tourist flows in June, attributing part of the increase to government measures supporting aviation connectivity.
“As for the increase in tourist flows, in June a historic record was recorded for all time, and a significant role in this was played by the decision to subsidise passenger traffic for airlines on new routes,” he said.
