Pashinyan's ruling party may win Yerevan mayoral polls Survey data
At least 55% of the Yerevan residents will participate in Yerevan Council of Elders elections.
As Caliber.Az reports with reference to the Armenian media, this is evidenced by survey data presented by the head of the Armenian branch of Gallup International Association, Aram Navasardyan.
In particular, 55% of respondents declared their unambiguous participation, another 13.8% would most likely take part in the voting, 8.4% doubted their participation, and 20.7% of survey participants would definitely not participate in the elections. According to Navasardyan, respondents, who say they are likely to vote, as a rule, do not participate in elections, which means the turnout will be about 55%.
Under the survey, the leader of the race for the position of mayor of Yerevan is the candidate from the Civil Contract, Tigran Avinyan, for whom 22.5% of respondents are ready to vote. 14.3% are ready to vote for his main competitor, ex-mayor Hayk Marutyan and his National Progress party. 7.8% of Yerevan residents intend to vote for the Mother Armenia bloc and Andranik Tevanyan. Another 6.7% of residents of the Armenian capital intend to vote for the Public Voice party and Artak Galstyan, and 5.7% for Mane Tandilyan and the Country for Life party.
Some 5.2% of respondents are ready to give their votes for the Republic party and its candidate Artak Zeynalyan, and 3.8% are ready to vote for David Khazhakyan and the Bright Armenia party. Former head of the Kentron administrative district Viktor Mnatsakanyan and his Victory party can get 3%, and Norik Norikyan and his Fair Armenia party – 2.3%.
But 1.9% intend to vote for Nelly Harutyunyan (Strength of the Motherland), 1.3% for Ervand Tarverdyan (United Armenia), 1.1% of respondents are ready to vote for Tigran Khzmalyan (European Party of Armenia), Suren Petrosyan (People's Association), Arman Ghukasyan and the party In the Name of Social Justice -1%.
“Another 9.9% of citizens found it difficult to answer for which force and candidate they would vote, and 11.6% refused to answer the question. If we compare the data with the previous stage of voting (September 6), then the largest increase (6%) was recorded by the GD party,” he noted.
According to Navasardyan, the smallest increase was recorded by the National Progress party of ex-mayor Hayk Marutyan - 2.5%.
The elections to the Council of Elders of Yerevan will be held on September 17. The election campaign ends on September 15.
