Pezeshkian sees optimism over Iran-US dialogue brokered by Oman
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has expressed optimism that ongoing indirect talks between Tehran and Washington will result in a fair agreement that promotes lasting stability across West Asia.
Speaking in Tehran on May 18, Pezeshkian praised Iran-Oman ties and acknowledged Muscat’s role in facilitating dialogue between Iran and the US during a meeting with Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Caliber.Az reports per Iranian media.
“We hope that through the sincere and genuine efforts and intentions of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, these talks will lead to a just agreement that ensures lasting peace and stability in the region,” Pezeshkian said.
He also affirmed Iran’s readiness to deepen cooperation with Islamic countries, especially Oman, describing the Sultanate as a “brotherly and friendly country.” He said collaboration could be expanded across various sectors, including trade, politics, science, economy, and technology.
Pezeshkian noted that his forthcoming visit to Oman would mark a turning point in bilateral relations.
He further stressed the importance of greater unity among Islamic nations, arguing that increased cooperation would thwart attempts by adversaries to sow division.
“The more these countries are close to each other and enhance their cooperation, the more ill-wishers of the Islamic world will get disappointed with creating division and disputes among Islamic nations,” he said.
The Iranian leader voiced hope that through synergy and collaboration, countries in West Asia could build a future grounded in prosperity and justice.
Oman’s foreign minister delivered greetings from Sultan Haitham bin Tariq and praised Pezeshkian’s remarks at the Tehran Dialogue Forum.
Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi lauded the Iranian president’s “valuable and wise remarks about Iran, neighbouring countries, the Islamic world as well as constructive interaction with the global community,” adding that “Oman completely supports that attitude.”
Describing the relationship between Iran and Oman as a “clear example of relations based on sincerity, cooperation and brotherhood,” Al Busaidi said he hoped the partnership would serve as a model for others.
The Omani official is in Tehran to take part in the 2025 Tehran Dialogue Forum, which opened on Sunday with the participation of senior representatives from 53 countries and the United Nations.
