PM: Georgia ready to increase transport flows between China, Europe
Georgia has expressed its readiness to cooperate with China in expanding transport flows between China and Europe.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze made the statement at the opening ceremony of the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“Georgia reaffirms its readiness to continue cooperation aimed at increasing transport flows between China and Europe,” Kobakhidze said.
He noted positive dynamics in cargo transportation between the two countries: from January to August 2025, the number of containers transported between China and Georgia increased by 71%, reaching 12,000 units. In addition, the volume of cargo transported in 2024 was 15 times higher than in 2023, he added.
According to Kobakhidze, in the first nine months of 2025, trade turnover between China and Georgia reached USD 1.65 billion, showing a 15% increase.
“If Georgia continues to play an increasingly important role as a strategic connector between Europe and Asia, our cooperation will continue to deliver tangible results in trade, infrastructure, and investment—creating new opportunities and strengthening our economic resilience,” Kobakhidze stated.
