PM: President Aliyev’s strategy shields Azerbaijan from regional instability
Despite complex geopolitical processes and growing risks in the region, Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and the inviolability of its borders are reliably ensured thanks to the consistent and pragmatic foreign policy course of President Ilham Aliyev, his strategic foresight, and his principled stance based on national interests, Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov said.
He made the remarks during a speech at the Milli Majlis (parliament), noting that the decision to keep Azerbaijan’s land borders closed is justified amid rising regional tensions and security risks, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
“Last week, an incident occurred involving the use of unmanned aerial vehicles by Iran on the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. As a result of this unpleasant incident, Azerbaijani society and the international community once again saw that President Ilham Aliyev is a strong leader who ensures the security of his people,” the prime minister said.
“I would also add that the recent developments in the region show how justified and necessary the decision to close Azerbaijan’s land borders is, and at the same time serve as another confirmation of the president’s far-sighted and wise state policy,” Asadov added.
